Selecting The Right Amplifier For Thermocouple Applications

PDF Print E-mail
Components / Sensors - Thursday
Friday, 11 May 2007
Thermocouples are one type of sensor commonly used to measure temperature. Thermocouples are generally inexpensive, robust, have a fast response time and can work over an extremely wide range of temperatures, which makes them ideal for use in extreme conditions. However, the signal conditioning designed to work with thermocouples must also account for harsh environmental conditions. When selecting an amplifier to provide signal conditioning, it is critical to ensure that the amplifier has low input-bias current, low voltage offset, low drift and enough open-loop gain to ensure optimal system performance....more  Discuss Topic (0) Comments

High-Performance 8-Bit MCUs Can Carry Both TCP/IP And Application Load

In today’s networked world users expect to manage all devices with their standard tools and to communicate using TCP/IP. For many designs this requires an upgrade from RS-232/RS-485 to Ethernet 10/100, and it might also involve protocol-conversion, going from a proprietary protocol to SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). Some examples for this trend are uninterruptible power supplies, telecom power supplies, and industrial control systems. With a network interface these devices can be remotely monitored/configured so status information is available in real time....more  Discuss Topic (0) Comments

WiMAX Mobility Through On-Chip Security

PDF Print E-mail
Product Design - Wednesday
Friday, 11 May 2007
Security requirements are becoming increasingly important in all applications, especially new mobile communications standards such as WiMAX. The IEEE 802.16-2004 standard calls for powerful cryptographic algorithms and advocates hardware acceleration. A new System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture targets these algorithms with an optimized, secure implementation for WiMAX....more  Discuss Topic (0) Comments
